Iran has built a 100-kilometer wall along its border with Afghanistan.

The Chief of Staff of Iran’s Armed Forces, Mohammad Bagheri, stated on Friday during a visit to the border wall project in Razavi Khorasan that 100 kilometers of the wall along Iran’s border with Afghanistan have been completed.

Speaking to IRNA, Bagheri said the project utilizes fully smart electronic equipment.

He emphasized that the wall significantly contributes to ensuring the region’s sustainable security and prevents the entry of drugs, smuggled goods, fuel, and illegal migrants into Iran.

Although Iran has maintained relations and cooperation with Afghanistan since the Islamic Emirate’s return to power, it has repeatedly expressed concerns about undocumented migrants and drug smuggling across the border.

Iran’s border closure project includes a four-meter-high wall, spanning 300 kilometers along the shared border between Razavi Khorasan province and Afghanistan.
