Afghanistan U-17 National Football Team Wins Fair Play Award at CAFA Championship
The Afghanistan U-17 national football team was awarded the Fair Play Award at the Central Asian Football Association (CAFA) Championship held in Tashkent, Uzbekistan. The award ceremony took place on Sunday, 11 Jowza 1404 (June 2, 2025).
Competing as the defending champions, Afghanistan struggled in the tournament, losing all three of their matches and finishing in sixth place. The team lost 1-0 to Turkmenistan in their first match, 3-0 to Tajikistan in their second, and 3-0 to Iran in their third.
Tajikistan clinched the championship title by defeating Uzbekistan, who finished second, while Turkmenistan secured third place.
Despite their on-field results, Afghanistan’s U-17 team was recognized for their sportsmanship and ethical conduct, earning the Fair Play Award in a highly competitive regional tournament.
