Kyrgyzstan Supports Russia’s Recognition of Islamic Emirate
Kyrgyzstan’s National Security Advisor, Baktybek Bekbolotov, called Russia’s recognition of the Islamic Emirate a logical and reasonable step, stating it would enhance regional security and Afghanistan’s stability.Bekbolotov clarified that this does not mean other countries will immediately follow, as each will act according to its national interests.
He noted that Kyrgyzstan, like other regional nations, is adopting a pragmatic approach toward Afghanistan’s current government. He stated: “Russia’s recognition of the Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan is a logical and reasonable step. However, it does not imply that other countries will soon follow.
Each will act based on its national interests. Kyrgyzstan, like other regional states, is pursuing a pragmatic policy toward Afghanistan’s de facto authorities.”Political analyst Muin Gul Chamkani remarked, “Kyrgyzstan is a small, landlocked country with limited economic and military power. Nonetheless, removing Afghanistan from its blacklist is a positive step and may lead to official recognition soon.”Analysts stress that the Islamic Emirate must broaden its diplomatic ties to secure recognition from other nations.
Political analyst Idris Mohammadi Zazai said, “Negotiations addressing the international community’s demands are essential to determine acceptable terms. This could facilitate recognition of the Islamic Emirate, especially in the Middle East and neighboring countries.”International relations expert Najib-ur-Rahman Shamal added, “If the Islamic Emirate combats drug trafficking, enacts a new constitution, meets the Afghan people’s demands, and reopens schools, it would create conditions for official recognition, particularly from Central Asian countries.”This follows Kyrgyzstan’s decision on September 4, 2024, to become the second country after Kazakhstan to remove the Islamic Emirate from its list of banned organizations.
