India Successfully Tests Agni-5 Intercontinental Ballistic Missile with 5,000 km Range

India has successfully conducted a test of its Agni-5 intercontinental ballistic missile, a strategic weapon with a range of 5,000 kilometers and the capability to carry nuclear warheads, marking a significant milestone in bolstering the country’s defense capabilities.

The test, carried out by the Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO), took place off the coast of Odisha at Abdul Kalam Island.

The Indian Ministry of Defence confirmed that the launch met all operational and technical parameters, demonstrating the precision and reliability of the missile’s guidance, navigation, and propulsion systems.

The Agni-5, capable of reaching speeds up to Mach 24 (approximately 29,600 km/h), is among the most advanced ballistic missiles in India’s arsenal.

This three-stage missile, equipped with cutting-edge guidance technology and high maneuverability, is designed to strike distant targets with exceptional accuracy. Its ability to carry nuclear or conventional warheads weighing around one ton makes it a critical asset for India’s strategic deterrence.

With a 5,000-kilometer range, the Agni-5 can cover vast regions of Asia, as well as parts of Europe and Africa, significantly enhancing India’s global strategic reach.The test comes as India continues to strengthen its military capabilities amid regional and global security challenges.
