Pakistan Calls for Forming a Bloc with Afghanistan, China, and Bangladesh

Ishaq Dar, Pakistan’s Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister, stated that his country should form a bloc with Afghanistan, China, and Bangladesh.

Speaking on Thursday at a conference of heads of Pakistan’s chambers of commerce, Dar noted that, following years of strained relations between Pakistan and Afghanistan, he visited Kabul and met with Islamic Emirate officials.

The Pakistani official also mentioned that he met with Afghan authorities for the second time during his recent trip to China.

It is worth noting that Dar participated in a trilateral meeting in Beijing with the foreign ministers of Pakistan, Afghanistan, and China.

In a press conference on Thursday, he said that Pakistan, Afghanistan, and China agreed in the meeting that their territories would not be used against each other.

Dar added that Afghanistan and China jointly committed to preventing terrorist groups from operating in their countries.

However, he emphasized that the issue of terrorism cannot be resolved by pressing a button and requires time to address.
