Afghanistan-Pakistan Political Consultation Meeting Held in Islamabad

The inaugural meeting of the political consultation mechanism between the foreign ministries of the Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan and Pakistan took place in Islamabad, the capital of Pakistan.

This significant gathering marked a pivotal step toward strengthening bilateral ties and addressing shared concerns, reflecting both nations’ commitment to deepening cooperation and fostering mutual trust.

The Afghan delegation was led by Mufti Noor Ahmad Noor, First Political Director of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, while Pakistan was represented by Syed Ali Asad Gilani, Deputy Foreign Minister for Afghanistan and West Asia Affairs.

According to a statement from Afghanistan’s Foreign Ministry, the meeting focused on key bilateral issues, including political relations, trade and transit cooperation, and regional connectivity.

Both sides also exchanged views on regional and international political matters, demonstrating their intent to build consensus on critical issues.

A central topic of discussion was the facilitation of visa issuance for Afghan patients and traders to enhance humanitarian and economic exchanges between the two countries.

Additionally, both parties emphasized the urgency of addressing challenges faced by Afghan prisoners and migrants in Pakistan, pledging to collaborate closely to find effective solutions.

Security was highlighted as a fundamental prerequisite for advancing regional development and reinforcing bilateral relations.Both delegations agreed to sustain engagement and cooperation to overcome existing challenges and further advance bilateral relations.

This meeting is regarded as a turning point in Afghanistan-Pakistan relations, with expectations that continued dialogue will lead to expanded cooperation in political, economic, and regional security domains. The representatives underscored the importance of mutual trust and multilateral collaboration to achieve shared objectives.

The successful convening of this meeting lays a solid foundation for friendly relations between Afghanistan and Pakistan, opening new avenues for cooperation in trade, migration, and security.
