Three Syrian Soldiers Killed in Israeli Airstrikes on Damascus

On Wednesday, Israeli airstrikes on Damascus, Syria’s capital, killed at least three Syrian Ministry of Defense personnel.

Ahmad Shar’a, head of Syria’s transitional government, responded by emphasizing the protection of minorities as a key priority. He stated: “Syria will not be a place for division or discord.

Protecting your rights and freedom is a priority, and we reject any attempts to sow division or align with external parties. We are all partners in this land, and we will not allow any group to distort Syria’s diverse identity.”The U.S. State Department called on Damascus to withdraw forces from Sweida, where sectarian clashes persist.

The Syrian Ministry of Defense confirmed the army has begun pulling back from the area.

The United Nations expressed alarm over escalating violence in Syria, condemning Israel’s airstrikes on Sweida, Daraa, and Damascus.

UN Secretary-General spokesperson Stéphane Dujarric said: “The Secretary-General condemns all violence against civilians, including arbitrary killings and acts fueling sectarian tensions, which undermine Syria’s chance for peace and reconciliation after 14 years of brutal conflict.”Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan revealed that Ankara communicated its concerns about Israel’s airstrikes to Israeli officials via Turkey’s National Intelligence Organization.

He stressed that regional countries are closely monitoring Israel’s destabilizing actions, stating: “We cannot tolerate this.

This region is ours, and unilateral destabilization is unacceptable.”Following four days of fierce clashes involving government forces, Bedouin tribes, and Druze fighters, Israel targeted key government sites in Damascus, including the Ministry of Defense, on Wednesday.
