Qatar’s Prime Minister: We Were Betrayed by Israel’s Actions
Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman Al Thani, Qatar’s Prime Minister and Foreign Minister, expressed profound anger over what he described as “international terrorism” in an interview with CNN.
He stated that words cannot capture the extent of Qatar’s outrage regarding Israel’s actions, which he labeled as acts of “brutality and barbarism” by Israeli Prime Minister Netanyahu.
A senior Qatari foreign ministry official emphasized that Israel threatens the entire region while facing no threats itself.
Sheikh Mohammed revealed that Qatar is actively consulting with regional partners to determine an appropriate response to Israel’s actions. He stressed the need for a unified regional reaction to halt Israel’s “bullying” and restore stability.
Highlighting Qatar’s role as a mediator in regional and international conflicts, Sheikh Mohammed described Israel’s actions as a “betrayal” of diplomatic efforts.
He noted that the region has reached a “critical moment” requiring a collective and practical response to counter Israel’s aggression.
According to him, Israel’s threats endanger neighboring countries and undermine regional security, despite no direct threats being posed against it.
The Prime Minister reiterated Qatar’s commitment to diplomacy but warned that these attacks have undermined its position as a neutral mediator. He expressed hope that the region’s response would be effective in stopping Israel’s aggressive policies.
The remarks come amid escalating tensions due to Israel’s military actions, which Qatar views as a violation of international law and a betrayal of global trust.
Sheikh Mohammed underscored the urgency of a coordinated regional stance to address the ongoing “savagery” and ensure peace and stability in the region.
